SUMMARY:Somatic Awareness: "Float like a butterfly\, sting like a bee"
DESCRIPTION:Breath shortens. Shoulders rise. Your body reacts before you’ve decided how to respond. \nUsing no-contact shadow boxing\, yoga sculpt\, and breathwork\, participants will move through cycles of intensity and stillness. These practices are not about fitness or performance. They are about information. Each modality becomes a way to notice how your nervous system responds under pressure and how that response shapes your ability to listen\, set boundaries\, and engage intentionally with others. \nWhy movement? Because conversations don’t just happen in our heads. They happen in bodies. \nWhen you understand how your nervous system works\, you’re better able to: \n breathe instead of brace\n notice triggers before they take over\n protect your body without shutting down\n respond instead of react \nThis session involves movement and reflection. Wear clothes you can move in\, bring a water bottle\, and a yoga mat if you have one — or we can provide one for you! \nSome moments float. Some moments sting. All of it is intentional.\nDate: May 14\nTime: 12:00-1:30pm\nLocation: Wellbeing Lab \nBubble tea provided for RSVPers! \nIn-person only and entry requires completing this form. You will receive an email confirmation within 24-48 hours with next steps. \nQuestions and/or concerns please email Alice Gold\, Instructional Designer & Program Manager for realtalk@MIT\, MIT Center for Constructive Communication (liaoa@media.mit.edu).
