SUMMARY:Tunnel Walk sponsored by getfit
DESCRIPTION:Want to get exercise during the day with others? Join a getfit sponsored tunnel walk for a 45-minute walk led by a volunteer through MIT’s famous tunnel system*. This walk may include stairs/inclines. Wear comfortable shoes. Free.\nTunnel Walk Leaders will have a white flag they will raise at the meeting spot for you to find them. \n*When the weather is nice\, walk leaders may offer to walk outside rather than through the tunnels. The majority vote of the group will decide whether the walk is indoors or outdoors. \nDisclaimer: Tunnel walks are led by volunteers. In the rare occasions when a volunteer isn’t able to make it\, we will do our best to notify participants. In the event we are unable to notify participants and a walk leader does not show up\, we encourage you to walk as much as you feel comfortable doing so. We encourage you to check the website just before you head out. \ngetfit is a 12-week fitness challenge for the entire MIT community. These tunnel walks are open to the entire MIT community and you do not need to be a current getfit participant to join.

SUMMARY:- We Can Breathe -
DESCRIPTION:The past few years have challenged all of us in complex and often unimaginable ways. In the midst of sickness\, injustice\, fear\, death\, grief and hope\, we have been collectively forced to ask ourselves who we are as individuals and as members of an interconnected global community. While many lessons have been learned\, many more are still to come. As we process all that has occurred and prepare for what’s next\, the Program in Media Arts and Sciences invites you to an immersive healing experience … We Can Breathe … \nThere is no revolution without art. Join MAS in a belated Black History Month celebration led by visionary performer\, social justice activist and yoga instructor Tanya Birl-Torres and her guests. Describing the experience\, Tanya says: “As visionary artists and educators\, we live at the intersection of the arts\, social justice and systemic change. We recognize the historical and present need to speak truth to Power\, while also recognizing that it is our moment to heal\, rest\, take stock of who we are\, where we have been and the future we wish to create. We ask: How heavy is your burden? What is yours to hold and what is yours to heal? How do we use art\, sound and vibration to center and heal the Black body?\nHow do we heal in community?” \nThrough We Can Breathe\, Birl-Torres and company will help us explore these questions through guided meditation – witnessing and practicing the power of stillness\, movement\, breath\, healing\, art\, conversation and community. \nReception to follow. Please rsvp for the event.\nAttendees are encouraged to move as much or as little as they choose.\nFirst 30 students to attend will receive free yoga or meditation mats. \nCo-sponsored by: Institute Community and Equity Office\, Program in Women’s and Gender Studies\, and Office of Student Support and Wellbeing | DSL.
