Student Advisory Groups

Description:

Course 6 has advisory boards (SAGE for graduate students and USAGE for undergraduate students) to create a helpful dialogue with departmental representatives.

Steps:

  • Identify instructors/staff who can listen and communicate well with both students and departmental administration (often this should include the academic administrator)
  • Invite a small group of students who represent the population of the department well
    • This can be done by sending an email out to the department or by selecting individual students
  • Set a weekly meeting time (and include food as an incentive)
  • Before each meeting, determine what specific topic/questions would be helpful to discuss and send them out ahead of time so everyone can prepare. You can also invite guests.

Rationale:

  • Rationale to be completed at a later date.
